The Refinishing System
Restoring your automobile to a "factory-like" new appearance requires the application of quality refinishing systems used by our skilled, trained and professional technicians.
After the damaged metal and plastic body areas are repaired, a variety of cleaners and etchers are applied to condition the surface and to ensure a thorough and proper adhesion of the paint system to the various types of surfaces.
This process is followed by applying primers which fill crevices and protect the surface against corrosion and rust.
After sanding the areas, another primer/sealer is applied to provide a uniform, satin-smooth surface.
The "color" paint is then applied, which is most often followed by an application of clear coat paint. "Clear coat" is a relatively recent industry development. The tough, transparent film acts like a magnifying glass to bring out the brilliance of the color, while also protecting the pigment of the color coat from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun, from acid rain and other contaminant's. It also provides a longer-lasting, "mirror-like" finish and is now used on most new factory finishes.
